After Pope Francis recalled that the Catholic Church is a few days away from the celebration of the Sacred Heart of Jesuss, here we will announce when it is and what it consists of.

According to the Catholic population, it is a devotion linked to the heart of Jesus Christ, taking it as a symbol of divine love and above all in reference to love for humanity.

For this reason, in various states of the country, parties are held in the company of people from the city or from the neighboring community. In addition, they organize dances, masses, meetings, balls, fairs, fireworks, among others.

According to the liturgical calendar, the celebration takes place on the Friday following the second Sunday of Pentecost (a holiday for the arrival of the holy spirit to the apostles), that is to say this Friday. June 11. In Mexico, this date is respected, but in other countries it has been covered.

It is a veneration that dates back to the 11th century, initiated by certain saints, such as: San Bernardo de Clairvaux, San Buenaventura and Santa Catalina de Siena.

Although it took root until the 17th century, when some people of that time took the Sacred Heart as a symbol of responding to heresy, that is, their beliefs were different and they had a different vision when they considered themselves unworthy of God’s love.

According to local media, the Pontiff underlined that during this date, God is asked to “make our hearts similar to his: humble, merciful and persevering in love, in prayer and in good works” .

Mexico has a wide variety of Church-related celebrations, such as Holy Week, which took place between the last days of March and the beginning of April this year.

Holy Week in Mexico is a time of celebration and worship for some people, as it is for the Catholic population. It is the Christian commemoration of the passion, death and resurrection of Christ, celebrated year after year on various dates, but characterized by intense liturgical activity.

In addition, it is also one of the main actions that lead in various entities of the country are the processions, penance and representations on the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. Generally, the population takes to the streets and organizes massive events; However, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, citizens did not commit massive acts or crowds in 2021.

Remember that Holy Week took place from Sunday March 28 to Saturday April 3. During this period there are two days of greatest relevance, as families usually carry out activities such as the Stations of the Cross and these are: Thursday April 1 and Friday April 2.

In some companies, they allow the two days as public holidays, that is, they give their employees a day off so that they can perform various date-related activities.
