Where more alcohol is consumed, how much is taken daily and what is the most popular drink

According to the World Health Organization, Worldwide, 33 g of pure alcohol are consumed daily, the equivalent of two 15 ml wine glbades or a 750 ml bottle of beer.

Data from the "State of the World Report, Alcohol and Health 2018" also revealed more details about consumption and beverages consumed around the world.

The countries that consume the most alcohol in the world

• Moldova: 15.2 liters per inhabitant
• Czech Republic 14.4 liters per inhabitant
• 14 liters of Lithuanian per capita

• Uruguay: 10.8 liters per inhabitant
• Saint Lucia: 9.9 liters per inhabitant
• Argentina and the United States: 9.8 liters per capita

The most consumed drink per capita in the world and in Argentina

Spirits (white, distilled) are the most consumed in the world with 44.8%, followed by beer with 34.3% and wine with 11.7%.

In Argentina, the consumption of wine and beer is 40%.

1 in 20 deaths is due to alcohol

According to the WHO, 1 out of 20 deaths is a consequence of the harmful consumption of alcohol and three-quarters of these deaths were men.

The harmful use of alcohol causes about 2.25 million deaths each year in the world.

Deaths related to alcohol

• 28% were due to injuries, such as those resulting from road accidents, self-injury or interpersonal violence
• 21% to digestive disorders
• 19% to cardiovascular diseases and the rest to infectious diseases, cancers, mental disorders and other conditions
