Young disabled man manages to escape his kidnapping in Villavicencio: they got him in a hole and with a loudspeaker on top to silence him

In the gap was Brayan Esneider Martínez, a 24-year-old missing for three months since his family lost him last November in the La Reliquia neighborhood in Villavicencio. At that time, his family had received extortion calls via WhatsApp. Despite having a disability in his lower limbs, the young man managed to escape.

It all happened in the district of San Antonio, south of Villavicencio, where he was being held hostage. Martínez was able to escape from the house because apparently the kidnappers had left. In the street, he looked for the authorities who immediately assisted him and then arrived at the house where he remained all this time: the conditions of his place of detention were deplorable: it was a hole inside the house which served to hide him by taking advantage of his handicap. According to the city’s Metropolitan Police, a sound deflector was placed over the hole to muffle their calls for help.

Inside this space there was a makeshift bed with newspaper, bottles of soda and energy drinks, plates of food and even a spoon which, apparently, was attached, like a pot where food would fall. In addition, mobile devices and SIM cards were seized at the scene which will be used as evidence.

In the calls his relatives received, they demanded 200 million pesos to release him. Although the young man was stable at the time of his escape, he showed signs of malnutrition and dehydration. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities captured two alleged perpetrators: the mother and son who were not at the scene and who attempted to escape upon arrival.

“It is clear that this is contrary to human dignity. We will be attentive to the investigations to see if this corresponds to an organization or is it an isolated case. The family will be accompanied by the Secretariat of the Government and the Directorate of Human Rights, ”said Mayor Felipe Harman.

In this complaint, they also included that members of the police in balaclavas were present to take photos and film near the Navar City Hotel, where the assembly was held on January 23. “With the intention of closing the place, regardless of the fact that everything has been duly coordinated and completed with the Metropolitan Police of Villavicencio,” the statement said.
