Zelenski won the Ukrainian presidential election, Poroshenko confessed his defeat – Telam

The Ukrainian actor Vladimir Zelenski has defeated the current Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko, with more than two-thirds of the vote in the second round of the presidential election, according to the ballot box, a victory recognized by the President fallen.

"As I am not yet officially president, I am addressing all the countries of the former Soviet Union as a Ukrainian citizen, look at us, anything is possible, thank God!" Zelenski at his seat.

Zelenski promised that his "number one" priority in the post would be the cessation of fighting and, as a result, the end of the war between the Ukrainian army and the pro-Russian militias in the east of the country.

"We must stop firing so that our children stop dying," said the 41-year-old actor with no political experience.

He also pleaded for a reform of the settlement process based on the Minsk peace agreement of February 2015 and opted for a new negotiating format including Russia and Western countries.
