Ariana Grande is devastated after “Voice” contestant had the “audacity” to cover her song

It takes special courage to sing on national television and in front of established stars. Corn The voice Candidate Gymani took that courage a step further during her blind hearing on Monday night, choosing to sing an interpretation of Judge Ariana Grande’s “POV”.

To Gymani’s credit, she brought the song out of the park and three of the four judges – Grande, John Legend and Blake Shelton – immediately turned around. Kelly Clarkson took a little longer to make up her mind but ultimately gave her support halfway through performing a four-chair lap, an accolade which Legend says is the “greatest honor” that the show of song can confer.

The caption called “the audacity to sing Ariana’s song behind her”, but marveled at the creative freedoms the 23-year-old singer brought to her audition, telling her “you really made it your own” . And for her part, Grande was fully on board.

“It’s your song now! Take it!” an overwhelmed Grande told an emotional Gymani, who added that she wanted to turn her chair the moment she started singing and continued to sing her praises. β€œIt was phenomenal. There were so many changes in the melody and I trusted each of them and believed that each of them had an intention.”

Grande called Gymani an “emotional messenger” and “incredibly effective communicator with your gift”, before telling her that she was “honored” to have performed her song and would obviously love to have her on her team.

With so much love from Grande, it seemed Gymani would have an easy choice. But in a surprising twist, the mother-of-two chose Clarkson as her coach.

β€œI had a battle inside me during your performance,” Clarkson first told him after his audition. “Because I was like I obviously had to turn around, but obviously you’re singing Ariana’s song. But I had to turn around because you’re so incredibly good.”

Clarkson went on to tell Gymani “your voice is the reason this show exists”.

To be fair to Gymani (and a disappointed Grande), if Kelly Clarkson had told us, we would probably choose her as our coach as well.
