Ariana Grande started her Sweetner World Tour in New York with a setlist of 31 songs.
On an innovative stage built around two spherical video screens, the star is focused on songs from her recent albums, Sweetener, and thanks, then.
But she has ruled out two songs, Ghostin's and Imagine, about her relationship with Mac Miller, who died as a result of an accidental overdose last year.
When checking the sound, Mr. Grande stated that Imagine was "too heavy" to be played live.
However, she honored her ex-boyfriend by playing her music while fans were filtered through the Times Union Center in Albany, New York State.
Grande's tour comes after a year in which her phenomenal creative success has been refracted by personal emotional turmoil.
She recorded Sweetener while she was still suffering from panic attacks and depression brought on by a suicide bombing attack at her concert in Manchester in 2017, killing 22 people.

The star found solace in her relationship with Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson, but their engagement ended soon after Miller's unexpected death in September.
Putting the tour plans on hold, Grande returned to the studio and recorded her thanks in just two weeks – indulging in such revealing songs as Fake Smile, Imagine and the title track.
The New York Times called this album "a new artistic definition"; and Grande became the first artist since the Beatles to occupy the top three positions in Billboard Hot 100 single.
Little of this drama was reflected on the stage when the tour began; with the show acting more like a celebration of music than a reconstruction of Grande's private grief.
The 25-year-old woman opened the show with Raindrops (A Cried Angel), before embarking on God is a Woman – staged, as her performance of the MTV Award Show last year, as a reenactment from The Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci.
While the series relied heavily on the new songs of Grande, the classics like Into You, Side To Side, Break Free and One Last Time also had their place – the fans of the song had rallied in the wake of the bombing from the Manchester Arena.
After 90 minutes, the concert is over with a reminder of No Tears Left to Cry and thank you, then.
Although Grande did not talk much about songs, she thanked social media fans after leaving the scene.
"I really do not know what to say yet, for the moment, thank you, that's enough," she wrote, accompanied by a video of fans singing the words of 7 Rings.
"My mind is everywhere and emotional, thank you thank you thank you."
The eight-month tour is expected to begin in the UK in August, when Grande will also be on the Manchester Pride poster.
