FIRST ON FOX: The Arizona attorney general charged the Department of Justice to try to “prevent and intimidate” parents from speaking out against critical race theory under Attorney General Merrick Garland’s new directive.

On Monday, Garland called on the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s offices to hold meetings with federal, state and local law enforcement officials over the next 30 days, during which they will discuss ways to combat what the DOJ called a “worrying trend” of harassment and threats. against school officials.

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich sent a letter to Garland on Tuesday, expressing several concerns over the controversial DOJ memo, stating that “Arizona will not tolerate any incursion into our state sovereignty, especially the latter. attempt”.

Brnovich wrote that the Biden administration “may find the CRT a useful manipulation to support its radical agenda,” but he and many citizens of his state view the ideology as “destructive and anti-American.”

“CRT is nothing more than the neo-Marxist idea of how race may have influenced the creation and history of our nation, building on a mistaken utopian dream of creating a new society based on class, ”Brnovich wrote.

“Sadly, this radical concept is already threatening to consume many of our institutions – from the US military to our churches, our professional sports leagues, our legislatures and our schools,” the Arizona attorney general continued.

Brnovich wrote to Garland that Arizona parents, like himself, “are rightly concerned and outraged that the CRT is being induced on” their children and that “the vast majority of parents are protesting in accordance with” their constitutional rights, adding that “few of those who cross lines of violence are treated appropriately by local law enforcement and existing laws.”

“Your letter promotes a false narrative that most of the people who are against the CRT are breaking our laws, and it further attempts to intimidate these parents into exercising their right to protest the school board’s actions,” he said. writes Brnovich. “It is a shameful attempt to impose CRT on our impressionable children, against the will of local communities.”

The Arizona top cop wrote that the state would not “tolerate” Garland’s directive, calling on the attorney general to “reverse” his order while claiming that the Biden administration and the DOJ “no longer generally abide by the law. State sovereignty which was reserved for States and persons according to the intentions of our Founders. “

Critics say the move amounts to an attempt by the Biden administration to intimidate parents into exercising their First Amendment rights.
