Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray returned to Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams to start the fourth quarter after coming out early in the first quarter with a right ankle injury.
Substitute Chris Streveler took over from Murray until he returned with 14:25 left in the game with the Cardinals down 18-7.
Murray left the game after being injured by a sack from Rams defensive lineman Morgan Fox with 12:14 left in the first. Murray limped up and headed straight for the locker room. He eventually returned to the field, tried to get rid of his injury and was assessed in the blue tent for injuries, but returned to the locker room.
Murray had his left ankle patched and warmed up after coming back to the sideline, but didn’t play again until the fourth quarter.
Murray spent time in and out of the locker room throughout the first half and early in the third quarter. Streveler took over from Murray and threw a touchdown in his first practice, but the offense didn’t produce much beyond that.
Murray suffered a “leg” injury, according to coach Kliff Kingsbury, in the dying seconds of last week’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers and said this week he “was feeling good”.
