Arizona election officials found just 182 cases of potential voter fraud out of more than 3 million ballots cast in the 2020 election, the Associated Press reported on Friday.
The findings come amid a controversial “audit” carried out in Maricopa County by a private company, Cyber Ninjas. Commissioned by the GOP-led State Senate, the review was dismissed by experts as a partisan attempt to substantiate former President Donald Trump’s false claims that he won.
According to the AP, of the 182 potential fraud cases, only four had enough evidence for authorities to prosecute. No one has been convicted.
President Joe Biden won Arizona by more than 10,000 votes.
“The point is, state election officials are heavily invested in helping to ensure the integrity of our election and public confidence in them,” Arizona Secretary of State told the AP. Katie Hobbs, a Democrat. “And part of that involves taking potential voter fraud seriously.”
Arizona Democrats held a press conference on Friday urging Attorney General Mark Brnovich, a Republican, to investigate allegations that former President Trump and his allies violated state law by making pressure on local election officials to overturn Biden’s victory.
