Arizona’s Republican Attorney General on Wednesday said it was highly unlikely that President Trump would prevail over Joe Biden because he dismissed unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election.
Mark Brnovich noted that Trump would need to be nominated on at least 65% of the remaining 50,000 ballots to be counted in Arizona in order to catch up and surpass the president-elect’s final vote count, believing this to be statistically “ very , highly unlikely. happen.”
“It looks like Joe Biden is going to win Arizona,” Brnovich said in an interview on Fox Business.
He also pointed out that the Trump campaign’s lawsuit in Maricopa County – based on a debunked conspiracy theory that machines invalidate filled Sharpies ballots – would affect fewer than 200 ballots.
“Even if it was possible that those votes would be reversed, those 200 votes, I can’t think it will make a difference in Arizona just because of the numbers,” said Brnovich.
“There is no proof there [are] no fact that will not lead anyone to believe that the election results will change. “
The attorney general also shot down baseless allegations of fraud or other voting irregularities in Arizona, noting that Republicans have done well in a number of high-profile local races.
Among those was the Maricopa County District Attorney, a Republican, who fought off a Democratic challenger and the county registrar’s seat turned red. The state legislature was also on track to remain firmly in the hands of the GOP majority.
“If there was indeed a grand conspiracy, it apparently didn’t work…” Brnovich said. “What really happened and what people came down to was people shared their post. People voted for Republicans, but they didn’t vote for President Trump or [Sen.] Martha McSally. It is reality.
“Just because it happened doesn’t mean it’s a fraud.”
