Senator Krysten Sinema, D-Arizona, avoided talks about stranded infrastructure in Washington DC to see her pediatrician and hold a high-priced fundraiser at an expensive Phoenix resort on Saturday.
Also to fundraising? Protesters, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.
“We are here to find our senator,” protester Ruth Shea told a photographer at the station. “Senator Sinema is an Arizona clown who is at Royal Palms meeting with fundraisers, when she’s supposed to be back in Washington, voting on bills, to make America better.”
A small group gathered outside the Royal Palms Resort in downtown Phoenix. They want the senator to support Pres. Joe Biden’s big expense bill.
SINEMA CRACKS DEM LEADERSHIP FOR “INEXCUSABLE” FAILURE TO HOLD VOTE ON BILL ON INFRASTRUCTURE BILL
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Sinema tore the Democratic leadership apart for what she described as an “inexcusable” failure to hold a vote on a bipartite infrastructure bill – a decision, she said, betrays the confidence of the American people.
“The failure of the US House to hold a vote on the The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is inexcusable and deeply disappointing for communities across our country, ”the moderate Democrat said in a lengthy statement. “Denying Americans millions of well-paying jobs, safer roads, cleaner water, more reliable electricity, and better broadband only hurts everyday families.”
The vote on bipartisan legislation in the House has been delayed as the progressive wing of the Democratic Party refused to support the bill unless there is agreement on a separate $ 3.5 billion budget reconciliation plan of dollars containing left-wing spending priorities and tax increases.
BILL MAHER DEFENDS SINEMA, MANCHIN: MAYBE THEY HAVE “THEIR THUMB MORE ON THE PULSE OF MIDDLE DEMOCRAC”
Democrats conceded the votes weren’t there to pass the infrastructure bill, with talks still ongoing with moderate Democrats – including Sinema – to reach agreement on the reconciliation package. The moderates have sought to bring down the huge price tag of the bill, which can be passed by the Senate without Republican obstruction if it can garner the support of the 50 Senate Democrats.
After the progressive wing showed its political strength to block the infrastructure package, Sinema criticized what she described as “an ineffective move to leverage a separate proposal.”

Sinema, along with West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, two moderate Democrats, are calling for a smaller package because Biden’s plan costs $ 3.5 trillion.
