More than a week has passed since screenshots of these so-called scary DMs between Armie Hammer and a series of women first surfaced – and now the actor has reportedly apologized, but not for the reason that many might think.
For days, pop culture freaks have been dismayed by the screenshots, which have not been confirmed by any official source but seem to show that the actor once described himself as a ‘cannibal’ and feeds off fantasies of slave and rape. Beyond that, other official posts and interviews from one of his exes allege that Hammer was also, at the very least, mentally and emotionally abusive. The actor called the allegations “bullshit” in a broad statement announcing his departure from Jennifer Lopez’s romantic comedy Shotgun wedding.
The tabloids, of course, have spent the last week digging all kinds of dirt on the Call me by your name actor – including a private Instagram account where the actor appeared to post a photo of himself using the hallucinogen DMT before a mandatory drug test. The story also included a video of a woman lying on all fours on a bed in lingerie, her buttocks flushed with a caption designating her as “Mrs. Cayman. This video, apparently, is what Hammer felt the need to explicitly address.
Apparently, the Miss Cayman Islands universe committee didn’t like the nickname Hammer gave the woman in the video. “Part of Miss Cayman’s role is to serve as a role model for young Caymanian women,” the organization wrote in a statement last weekend, as first reported. People. “The portrayal of women in the video goes against everything our organization stands for and the Committee therefore calls on Mr. Hammer to immediately remove all references to Miss Cayman from his social media.
Hammer has now issued a statement of apology via the Cayman Compass“This is apparently the first time he has publicly acknowledged the account and verified its authenticity. “I want to make it clear that the person in my video, which was stolen from my private Instagram, is not Miss Cayman,” the actor said.. “I’m so sorry for any confusion my mad attempt at humor may have caused.”
