After months of scandal crowned with allegations of sexual assault, Armie Hammer has stepped away from another role.

The 34-year-old actor will no longer appear in the Broadway play “The Minutes,” according to Variety.

Written by Tracy Letts, “The Minutes” was originally scheduled to debut in March 2020, but when the coronavirus pandemic shut off New York’s theaters, the project was put on hold. He is expected to make his debut in the 2021-2022 season.

The story examines the dark underbelly of a city council meeting when a newcomer gets involved.

“I loved every second of working on ‘The Minutes’ with the family I made from Steppenwolf. But right now I have to focus on myself and my health for the sake of my family,” said Hammer said in a statement obtained by the exit. “Therefore, I will not be returning to Broadway with the production.”

Just a few weeks ago, a woman accused Hammer of rape and physical violence. Hammer, who is now the primary suspect in a Los Angeles Police Department investigation, has denied the allegations.

“From day one, Mr. Hammer maintained that all of his interactions with [the woman] – and all of her other sexual partners for that matter – were completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory. [The woman]The search for attention and the misguided legal offer on the part of the population will only make it harder for real victims of sexual violence to obtain the justice they deserve, ”the statement said.
