Military football led a moment Saturday at Michie Stadium that would give you goosebumps.
The Black Knights emerged from the tunnel each carrying an American flag to show their support for the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the 20th anniversary. The team were set to play in Western Kentucky in hopes of going 2-0 to start the 2021 season.

Army got off to a good start with a touchdown from Tyrell Robinson to put the Black Knights ahead of the Hilltoppers in the first quarter, 7-0.
This is the first game the military has played in front of all fans since November 2019. The coronavirus pandemic has impacted the season by keeping fans home in 2020. The only people the Black Knights have played before were West Point personnel and the Cadet Corps.
Last week, the military beat Georgia State 43-10 to give Jeff Monken his 50th victory as the head coach of the army.
He recounted his experience 20 years ago during the 9/11 attacks in an interview with the Times Herald-Record. He stressed the importance of getting back to sport and getting back to normal. He was an assistant coach at Georgia Southern at the time.

“The importance of getting back to normal (was) a message about who we are as a nation, that we are not going to be held hostage by an invisible enemy,” he said.
