Actor Artie Lange was arrested Tuesday in Essex County, New Jersey, for violating the terms of his drug rehabilitation program. He is currently detained at the Essex County Correctional Center in Newark.
"We have received a warrant from the drug court for Artie Lange. We executed this arrest warrant without incident at 7:42 am today, "confirmed Kevin Lynch, Essex County Sheriff's Office Information Officer, on behalf of Sheriff Armando Fontoura, at TheWrapTuesday.
Katherine Carter, information officer for the Essex County District Attorney's Office, confirmed that his arrest was motivated by the fact that "he did not respect the terms of the drug control program in which he was a member. of the court ".
Carter could not explain the nature of the violation because of the strict rules of confidentiality of the drug court, but said that "there will be a hearing for violation of probation at a later date". The date of the hearing has not been fixed yet.

On January 31, TheWrap announced that Lange was in remand custody in an Essex County penitentiary before being transferred to a "long-term treatment facility". according to his Twitter account. Earlier that week, he went on a drug test in the Newark State Superior Court after violating his probation by taking the positive test for cocaine, and again for the drug during the second test, reported NJ.com. According to the site, the actor's lawyer, Frank Arleo, stated that Lange was taking Suboxone, a medication used to treat opioid addiction, and had also tested positive for morphine at the time.
