In the smartphone industry, everything moves so quickly that a period of a few years may seem like a life. But overall, not so long ago, Android phone users were ashamed to see how badly the cameras on their devices were. Do you remember the first time that Instagram arrived on Android in 2012 after being an exclusive iPhone app for so long? The hissing iPhone users complained that since the app was now available on Android phones, their timelines were filled with blurry and pixelated photos. What was sad was that they did not exaggerate; the cameras on the Android phones were annoying at the time. But how times have changed.
Fast forward to 2019 and Apple's advance in mobile camera quality looks like a distant memory. The advantage of the iPhone in this area has long since disappeared, with Huawei's smartphones, Google and sometimes even Samsung that surpass iPhones in professional and amateur camera tests. What's even worse is the fact that the gap is widening, not narrowing. Now, a new Android phone has just come out with a camera that does not just surpass Apple's latest iPhones, it is shameful to Apple's latest iPhones.
I have been an iPhone user for over 10 years, since my iPhone was replaced by my original iPhone in 2007. Due to the nature of my work, however, I have also used almost all the outstanding Android phones that came out. over the years. As a result, I am in the unique position of seeing first-hand how each platform has evolved over the years. I also saw how smartphones from different vendors have evolved over the years, and some transformations have been more impressive than others.
Huawei is a brand that impressed me most. Like many Android phone makers, Huawei's first smart phones were a shameful fool for the iPhone. The company's story in Apple's copy was not as prevalent at the time since Huawei phones were not as prevalent as Samsung, but there is no denying it. Samsung may have literally written the book on Apple's copy, but Huawei was happy to rip a few pages.
Now, in 2019, Huawei phones are anything but imitators for iPhone. Of course, the company still eliminates an Apple design here and there, but its flagship phones have developed a unique design identity. More importantly, they shine in a crucial area for all smartphone users: the performance of the camera.
This brings us to the Huawei P30 Pro which was released at the end of last month.
Look, the camera of the latest series of Apple iPhone is not bad. Far from that, actually. The photos taken with good lighting are clear and crisp, the colors are accurate and the video quality is also impressive. But that's not enough in 2019. Jaloux, the new camera of the P30 Pro has two features, and I really hope that Apple intensifies its game this year and brings huge improvements to the camera of the iPhone 11.
The first feature film is the one we already covered earlier this week, but it's certainly worth going back to because it's ridiculously impressive. In fact, it may be magical.
Google's Night Sight feature on its Pixel phones has stunned people since its launch on Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL last year. In summary, the feature uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to capture poorly lit photos of incredible clarity. It's really amazing, and now the Huawei P30 Pro has improved it. Yeah, it's amazing, and for now, nothing on the iPhone can compare far the performance of the P30 Pro low-light camera.
But there is another camera feature on the P30 Pro that I really want to see on the iPhone 11, and that's a feature I've already described here on the Huawei's car site is not the first Chinese manufacturer of smartphones to offer it. It's a new hybrid zoom system that combines optical zoom and enhanced digital zoom to enable a 50x zoom on Huawei's P30 Pro. This is not a typo … zoom 50 times!

As you can see, the 5x, 10x and even 20x zooms are extremely clear – and these are photos that have been downsampled and treated as crazy as they are in a YouTube video. Things start to get a little blurry and uneven once the zoom has gone to 50x, but the clarity remains remarkable for something that has been zoomed to 50x on a smartphone.
Through what appears to be an original part of the iPhone 11 stolen from the Foxconn factory and photographed, it seems that we can now confirm that the new set of cameras to three goals that had fled earlier is actually aimed at the new generation iPhone from Apple. It's big, ugly and bulbous, as you can see in the renderings of this article. But if it incorporates features such as Huawei's low-light performance and 50x zoom into the Apple iPhone range, then I'm looking forward to getting it.
