As Sabers trade for Flyers’ first-round pick, what impact will it have on order – The Athletic

UPDATE: The Sabers acquired the Flyers’ first-round pick on Friday afternoon.

For the second time in the past nine months, we can say it’s NHL Draft Day.

There were a lot of days in the last season that the NHL people, including me, weren’t sure if that day would come this season. The NCAA, USHL, QMJHL, the Russian Junior League and major European professional leagues have gone the distance; but the OHL did not play, the WHL had a shortened season, the Swedish junior league was canceled halfway through, parts of the Finnish junior league were unable to play, junior hockey had a very short season in Canada, and almost all international events except major IIHF tournaments have been canceled.
