In the episode of this week's Fiance of 90 days: Fortunately forever?Ashley Martson finally explained to fans why she decided to meet with Jay Smith after filing for divorce in January. Martson withdrew the divorce application a few days after submitting it because Smith was rushed to be by her side after learning that she had been hospitalized because of lupus-related complications.
On January 12, Martson was found insensitive to her home and shared a disturbing photo of her hospital bed, showing her connected to various medical equipment.
"I'm sorry if this photo shocks somebody but I will not hide that I'm sick," Martson revealed at the time. "If I can help a person with lupus and then post it, it's worth it, and I found it unresponsive this morning at home." The hospitalization took place just days after Martson discovered that Smith had again deceived him. Martson went ahead and asked for a divorce from Jamaica.
But as fans saw him in the Sunday episode, Smith returned to Martson after hearing about his medical fear. He visited her after spending a week at the hospital.
Martson said one of his friends had called Smith to tell him what had happened, and he had decided to leave Florida to visit him.
"Things with Jay and I were not good.The last time I saw him, I had just kicked him out," said Martson. "It's a little surprising to see him walk out of the hospital door." I was still really mad at Jay, but still a little happy to see him and happy not to be alone. "
"Knowing me and knowing the person I am, I can not have him in the hospital all by myself and I'm not there," Smith said. "Then I immediately flew to her."
He also told Martson that he wanted to help as much as he could. She was happy that he came, but warned that "that does not mean things are fixed."
A few days after Smith's return, Martson went to see his lawyer to cancel the divorce.
"Jay is still here because, I guess, I'm not fine and he's here to help me out and it feels good to have him here," said Martson.
Unfortunately, as those who follow Martson and Smith outside the series know, reconciliation has not lasted. Martson filed for divorce in April and Smith is now at risk of being deported. He is currently being held by ICE.
