Asmongold criticizes Diablo 2 Resurrected’s “boring” gameplay

Twitch sensation Asmongold isn’t known to hold back, and he’s been pretty brutal when it comes to Blizzard’s Diablo 2 remaster, Diablo 2 Resurrected.

Finally released to gamers on September 23, Diablo 2 Resurrected dominated Twitch on its launch day. With a slew of content creators diving into their Sanctuary adventures, one of them even cosplayed as Deckard Cain.

Asmongold, however, was not part of the devilishly delicious party. Previously stating that he would not be streaming the game, there was no sign of the self-proclaimed professional beard on launch day.

While the lingering medical issues with his mother were probably the main cause for this, he explained in a September 28 feed why Diablo 2 Risen has little to no appeal to him.

Asmongold was one of many former D2 players who criticized Resurrected’s Amazon in-game model.

Asmongold calls Diablo 2 Resurrected “boring”

When asked whether or not he is planning to air the remaster, Asmongold had a few good things to say about the latest version of Blizzard.

“I’ve played Diablo 2 a bit but the truth is Diablo 2 is pretty boring to play,” he said. “I’ll be honest, I think it’s boring to play, it’s boring to watch; it’s just not something that excites me.

“If it had been released while I was still streaming, I probably would have played it that day and I would have played throughout the campaign,” he confessed. “But in terms of playing it as something cohesive, I think it’s a very acquired taste. The fact that I had never played Diablo 2 back then takes away the element of nostalgia that draws a lot of people.

When asked if he didn’t like the game at all, he said, “I loved Diablo 3, thought it was such a fun game, but the gameplay in Diablo 2 is not. just not good in my opinion. I think this is fundamentally not good. I don’t like the way the characters move, I don’t like the way the NPCs move, I just don’t like the way the game plays.

While concluding that “it feels like Diablo 2 is true to form, and I’m so happy for all the people who love to play Diablo that they have this game,” it’s pretty clear that Diablo fans won’t be able to see Asmon playing the game anytime soon.

Maybe if we say a few prayers to Heaven he will change his mind, but right now he’s looking to conquer a new world (understood?) Instead of the old one in Sanctuary.
