Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is getting further free post-launch content support – including a new “highly replayable” River Raids mode – as part of its latest title update, which will arrive tomorrow February 16 across all platforms.

Ubisoft hasn’t shared many details about the River Raids mode yet, but says it will take adventurers to uncharted areas of the UK, spread across three new maps. Before embarking on raids, however, players are encouraged to construct the new Jomsviking Hall Colony building in order to recruit more Jomsvikings to contribute for support, with new loot, rewards, and challenges promised along the way.

Valhalla’s latest title update, which is considered part of the game’s first post-launch content season, also introduces a number of new abilities and skills.

The Berserker Trap, for example, can be attached to an arrow and is triggered by a proximity move, spewing mind-blowing powder, while the Battle Cry ability lets out a blood-curdling scream, increasing Eivor’s strength and tripping enemies, interrupting their attacks. There’s also a new shoulder kick, knocking back enemies and destroying items.

On the new skill front, players can move a body using Assassin Carry after a successful assassination, while Assassin Slide can be used to streamline enemies while sprinting and unbalance them. Arrow Looter increases Eivor’s chances of looting Arrows from Archers, Fight Ready starts a fight with an adrenaline-filled slot, Power Stroke offers a long ship speed boost for an endurance cost, and Long Ship Brace forces the crew to raise their shields with you when you command the ship.

All of this accompanied by a range of quality of life improvements, balance adjustments, and bug fixes, as detailed in the Ubisoft title update 1.1.2 patch notes. .

Support for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla post-launch content will continue in March with the start of Season 2, bringing in another game mode, new festivals, gear, and cosmetics. Seasons 3 and 4 are slated for later this year, and two full-scale Season Pass extensions are also underway. Wrath of the Druids – inspired by Gaelic myths – is due this spring, and the Siege of Paris is expected to arrive this summer.
