Assassin’s Creed Valhalla releases on Xbox Series X / S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC (via Uplay and Epic Games Store) tomorrow, November 10, with the PS5 version releasing alongside this console on November 12. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is set in the 9th century during a time of unrest for the Vikings. You play as Eivor, a Viking raider who leads his clan away from the war-torn homeland of Norway on an adventure to England. Eivor can be played as male or female, and Ubisoft promises its combat will draw inspiration from Viking fighting styles, with a reworked combat system that includes dual-use and a greater variety of enemies. Like recent iterations of the franchise, Valhalla will have a season pass that grants access to post-launch DLC.
The game received an 8/10 in GameSpot’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla review. “Despite its close connection to previous games, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is more than capable of fending for itself,” wrote associate editor Jordan Ramée. “It does take a little while to build momentum, but when it hits cruising speed, Valhalla is a confident Assassin’s Creed title that takes a few narrative risks that, on the whole, pay off. Mystery behind the main narrative, and it shines in the self-contained arch structure of the history of Valhalla.
