Asus announces ROG Phone II Ultimate Edition with 1 TB of storage

The Asus ROG Phone II is already a flagship Android phone that deserves to be extolled because of its ultra-smooth 120Hz OLED display and high-end specifications. But today, the company has announced an enhanced version, the ROG Phone II Ultimate Edition, which contains 1 TB of storage and an exclusive matte black finish. LTE performance is also faster and supports Cat 20 4G LTE Cat download speeds with theoretical peaks of up to 2 Gbps. But the problem lies in the fact that 1TB of integrated UFS 3.0 storage doubles the maximum of 256GB or 512GB that you get with many of Android's flagship products.

Everywhere else, the Ultimate Edition is identical to the standard ROG Phone II, but it's still impressive. Inside is a Snapdragon 855 Plus (higher than the 855 of all high-end Android phones) and a "special" Adreno 640 GPU that also surpasses the standard version.

But the big disadvantage is this 6.59-inch 1080P OLED display, which allows you to play optimized games at high refresh rates to keep everything clean and fluid. As with the Razer Phone 2 and the OnePlus 7 Pro, even scrolling and navigating the phone should be significantly smoother and without any lag. Asus said that the massive 6,000 mAh phone battery would be able to power it all the way through the PUBG Mobile marathon sessions running at 60Hz. And "a newly designed 3D steam chamber" promises to keep the Qualcomm processor running fast without strangulation. If you can warm it up, you still have the option of snapping on a fan accessory for even more robust cooling.

The ROG Phone 2 will certainly not be for everyone. Its design is the opposite of the sober player and very PC. You will like it or you will reject it immediately. The 48 megapixel camera has no meaning. And the Ultimate Edition is, well, expensive as an ultimate edition. It will cost you 1,199 €, against 899 € for the regular one. The ROG Phone II will be available later this month, with the Ultimate edition scheduled for October. From this sound, you will not be able to purchase the optimized device directly from Asus.
