At least 20 Capitol Hill police have COVID-19 after riot – NBC4 Washington

Some United States Capitol Police officers say they fear the violent Jan.6 riot on Capitol Hill is a COVID-19 super-broadcast event.

At least 20 police officers have active cases of COVID-19, which is the highest number of cases among the base in months, a leader of the Capitol Police Union said.

Dozens of Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol without face masks during the riot, injuring officers and damaging an icon of American democracy.

The officers were equipped with personal protective equipment.

The News4 I team reported late last year that dozens of Capitol Architect employees and Cannon House office building contractors had contracted the virus.
