The collapse of the bridge occurred in the 200 block of East Baker Avenue in Wildwood, Staeger said. The WPVI video, affiliated with CNN, showed the ground deck in front of a house not far from the ocean.

All but one of the injured were initially taken to Cape Town Regional Medical Center in Cape May, spokeswoman Susan Staeger said.

One patient from Cape Regional was taken by helicopter to a trauma center and another was transported by vehicle to another medical center, she said. Staeger said that eight patients were still being evaluated in Cape Regional, but that she could not yet talk about their conditions.

Eleven people were treated and released, she said. Among the wounded, there were several children, but they were released, she added.

A person was treated at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, said a press spokeswoman, Jennifer Tornetta, adding that she did not have information about her condition.

Wildwood is a city of about 5,000 permanent residents on the south coast of Jersey.
