SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Authorities reacted to a riot that occurred Friday night at the Richard J. Donovan Penitentiary Center in Otay Mesa, leaving six people injured, including at least two seriously wounded.

Cal Fire San Diego said that about a hundred inmates were in the prison yard when a fight broke out around 8 pm.

Ten ambulances and two medical helicopters were sent to the prison.

Cal Fire says that all the injured people were prisoners. No guard would have been injured during the riot.

The Friday night scrum was only the last of a series of recent fights in the jails. In February, a fight broke out between 50 detainees, leaving at least 10 people injured. The agents had to use pepper spray to control the situation.

In April, three inmates were also wounded at the knife in a fight at seven against the camp.
