Victims of the shooting – a 17-year-old woman, three 18-year-old men and two 19-year-old men – are expected to recover from their injuries, police spokesman Victor Senties said Sunday.

The party was an "instant house party" hosted on Snapchat, said a detective at CNN's affiliate, KHOU.

"It was just a random group of people who were receiving an invitation" on the messaging app, the detective said.

Senties told CNN that the scrum had begun after a verbal brawl between a few partygoers at the East Houston Hotel on Saturday morning.

According to the police, about 30 to 100 people were present at the late-night party when three people started shooting in the street or inside the house, said Senties.

Three teenagers were shot dead at home and three others fleeing the scene were shot dead, Senties said.

At noon on Sunday, no arrests were made.

CNN asked Snapchat to comment.
