At least two firefighters were injured after an explosion Wednesday at a fireworks facility south of Roswell, New Mexico.

According to the Roswell City Facebook page, firefighters were working in or around the storage area when the explosion occurred around 12:15 pm local time. They were transported to a local hospital, but the extent of injuries remains unknown.

The warehouse was used to store fireworks used during large public shows.

The authorities did not specify what caused the explosion.

The State Police of New Mexico and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives play a leading role in the investigation.
