Some thoughts on a 63-62 win over Michigan:
How did it go?: With his chances in the playoffs, Indiana delivered a ruthless performance Saturday afternoon at the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers led twice in the win: in the first minute and again when they took advantage at 63-62 on a 3-point game from Juwan Morgan with 1:46 to play. Trust Indiana to never give up an afternoon where it seemed like the Spartans could get away. The state of Michigan was led by no less than 12 people in the first half, but the Hoosiers continued to lose ground. And while UI continued to seek defensive goals, its confidence grew in the far right. In a season when Indiana did not make much progress, especially late in the games, the Hoosiers plunged into the possession of the ball just as Rob Phinisee choked Cassius Winston to keep the lead at one point. The victory, IU's second consecutive victory, places Purdue behind the wheel of the Big Ten title of the regular season and leaves the Hoosiers on the program for a playoff bid.
Standout artists: Justin Smith scored 24 points, Devonte Green 13 points and Phinisee's late defense on Winston saved the game.
Statistics that stand out: The Hoosiers hit nine points with three and five different UI players connected remotely. Indiana also beat Michigan State 15-2 on the quick points.
