AT & T has deployed 5G mobile technology in seven other cities: Austin, Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose. This brings the total to 19 cities, per year Press release telecom. But before you get excited, AT & T still does not have a usable phone on its 5G network.

Currently, you can only use one 5G Netgear Nitehawk Mobile Access Point AT & T 5G millimeter-wave network. It is likely that AT & T will add 5G Phones like the Samsung S10 5G and maybe even a 5G version of the Samsung Fold, but the company has not yet confirmed its position.

Which means you'll need this hotspot if you want to experience the promised high speeds like 5G – above 1 Gbps, at which AT & T claims he has just realized on his network.

Limits of the millimeter wave

Although we have not tested the AT & T network, we will wait for more than one hard-to-reach access point: its 5G is broadcast using millimeter-wave technology, which apparently covers a lot fewer areas than 4G LTE.

The 5G network that Verizon has just launched in Chicago and Minneapolis operates on the same millimeter wave spectrum. trialwe found it uneven, if it improves. But it is unclear whether millimeter waves will seriously limit coverage areas.

AT & T is working on a broader "sub-6" spectrum technology for its national 5G network, which the carrier is expected to deploy by early 2020, according to today's press release.
