Atlanta – A man shot a teenager who accidentally knocked on the wrong door of an apartment in Atlanta, reported WSB-TV. That happened around noon on Friday Friday at The Retreat Apartments complex in southwest Atlanta, according to the resort.

Omarian Banks, 19, was deposed by a Lyft near the wrong passage in the complex, police said, according to WSB-TV. Banks and his girlfriend had just moved into the complex and Banks was not familiar with the area, the police said. Banks used FaceTime to talk to his girlfriend when he knocked on the door that he thought was his. Shortly after, he moved away.

The man inside, Darryl Bynes, 32, took a gun and went to his balcony to face Banks, police said. They said that after a short conversation, Bynes had shot him. Police said Bynes had told them that he had shot Banks in self-defense.

Banks' girlfriend, Zsakeria Mathis, recounted what she had heard at the FaceTime call.

"I just hear weak voices and a shot, and then I hear it scream," Mathis told WSB-TV. "And I heard all the fear in his voice and he was just," I'm sorry! I am at the wrong door! The man said to himself, "No, you are not at the wrong door! ". He fired two more times and then he was silent.

Michael Wallace, a friend of the family, described Banks as a hardworking man who did not bother anyone. "It's a 19-year-old child who did not even deserve to die, who had not even lived his life," Wallace told WSB-TV.

Bynes is accused of murder. We do not know if he has a lawyer.

Makayla Johnson, who identified herself as Bynes' cousin, told WSB – TV that the charge was unfair.

"He's an innocent father," said Johnson. "He has five children. His truck was stolen earlier this week. Right now, he's just trying to protect his family. "
