the Celtics and Sixers have at times found themselves shorthanded due to NBA health and safety protocols, which have required a number of players from both teams to self-quarantine for positive COVID-19 tests or contact tracing. Heading into their Wednesday and Friday games this week, the two teams should be a bit closer to the set.
As ESPN’s Tim Bontemps details, Sixers center Joel Embiid, who missed Saturday’s game with pain in his right knee, is expected to be ready to leave on Wednesday, head coach says Doc rivers. And while Seth Curry has not practiced today, he is in the final stages of health and safety protocols and has yet to be ruled out for Wednesday’s game, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey (Twitter link).
Meanwhile, the Celtics head coach Brad stevens said today that Kemba WalkerKnee-to-knee replied ‘awesome’ after his season debut on Monday, and he’s trained fully today (Twitter link via Bontemps). Robert williams, who was cleared following a positive COVID-19 test earlier this month, also practiced today, by Stevens, and will be available Wednesday.
Still, the Celtics are not yet at full power. Jayson tatum and Carsen Edwards the two remain in health and safety protocols and will not play on Wednesday, although Stevens left the door open for Tatum to return as early as Friday (Twitter link via Bontemps).

- The Westchester Knicks – The New York G League affiliate – issued a press release confirming the previously reported hiring of Jackson years Sr. as assistant coach and announcing that Ryan borges was promoted to Deputy Managing Director.
