Atomos confirms RAW video via HDMI from Lumix S1H to Ninja V

[ad_1]

Atomos confirmed to be in co-development with Panasonic to provide the Lumix S1H's HDMI-based RAW format to Atomos Ninja V.
The RAW update will be available for free on the Ninja V when it will be available on the S1H. Hopefully this will not turn into another fiasco like the Nikon Z6 RAW over HDMI, where users will have to send their cameras to a Nikon service center and pay for the RAW to be activated.

There is currently no indication of how long the RAW format via HDMI will be transmitted to the S1H. Given the delays with the Nikon Z6 and the RAW format over HDMI, I would not expect that we would see it soon.

Whether or not Panasonic will provide RAW on HDMI as a free firmware update, or whether you will also need to send your camera to a service center, remains unknown.

The S1H is the world's first full frame mirrorless camera capable of 6K internal video. The addition of external RAW recording would certainly help make the camera even more appealing.

It will be interesting to know if Panasonic will be able to obtain the format RAW on HDMI in resolutions higher than 4K UHD.

Does this announcement make the S1H a more attractive option for shooters? Are you skeptical of developments involving the use of RAW on HDMI for the Nikon Z6? Let us know in the comments section below.
