The ‘Soho Karen’ who allegedly accused jazz trumpeter Keyon Harrold’s 14-year-old son of slipping his iPhone in a hotel had two brush strokes with the law last year – one for public intoxication and another for drunk driving, according to a report.
Miya Ponsetto, 22, who NYPD sources identified to the Post as the woman filmed falsely accusing Keyon Harrold Jr., was arrested in Beverly Hills for public intoxication on February 28, the Daily Mail reported, citing reports from police and court records.
This case is still pending and it is due to be presented in court on January 28, according to the media.
And on May 28, she was bonded for drunk driving near Calabasas, a city in Los Angeles County where Kim Kardashian owns a large estate, the Daily Mail reported.
Ponsetto was convicted of four counts – two for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for driving with a suspended license and one for illegal use of a driver’s license, according to the report.
In September, she pleaded no challenge to the DUI charge. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 14.
Ponsetto was also named in a civil case involving deportation for non-payment in August 2019, the outlet reported, citing court records.
Photos posted online with Ponsetto’s name appear to correspond to the young woman who attacked the boy at the Arlo Hotel in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood.
“No, I won’t let him go with my phone!” She screamed at one point, according to a music video uploaded by Elder Harrold.
NYPD Detective Chief Rodney Harrison This Week tweeted a montage surveillance video clips which also included a photo of the woman’s face with the word “WANTED” underneath in red letters.
He said the NYPD “is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect in this video,” which he said “falsely accused an innocent 14-year-old girl of stealing her cell phone and then proceeded to latch it. ‘physically attacked and fled the scene. “
On Tuesday, the woman told CNN she was “worried” about the fallout – but maintains her claim that she was assaulted during the incident.
She said that when she realized her iPhone was missing, she asked to see surveillance video from the hotel lobby – and then asked everyone in the lobby to “empty their pockets” before they went. choose Keyon Jr. as his suspect.
“That’s when it all got a bit more serious,” she told CNN in a telephone interview.
She then pounced on the teenager and his father, who was defending his son against the charges.
During a brawl not fully captured in the clip, Elder Harrold said, the woman clawed at him and attacked the boy.
He said shortly after the melee an Uber driver showed up with the woman’s missing phone.
NYPD said it plans to hit woman with raps that could include assault, grand theft or attempted robbery, while Mayor Bill de Blasio called the argument “outright” racism .
