More and more car subscription services are having problems. According to Autoblog, Automotive news has learned that Audi and BMW are respectively terminating and discontinuing their services. Audi is ending its Select program on Jan.31 without mention of a revival, while Access by BMW-only in Nashville is closing as the automaker develops the “next iteration” of the service.
The two brands did not specify their decisions. However, when Mercedes-Benz closed the collection, it cited poor demand and complaints about the hassle of changing personal items between vehicles. Although it was not mentioned at the time, the COVID-19 pandemic did not help matters. People travel less, if at all, and may be more interested in savings than the flexibility of changing cars.
