George Clooney injured in a car accident: report

George Clooney was involved in a car accident on the Italian island of Sardina Tuesday, according to local media reports.

The 57-year-old star was rushed to hospital after leaving her scooter on the national highway for Costa Corallina, in the province of Olbia, La Nuova reports.

Police told NBC Claudio Lavanga that the accident occurred around 8:15 am when a driver of a car would not have "respected the right-of-way," Cutting the way to the star and hitting it.

The star fell and the driver of the car went for help, calling an ambulance, adds Lavanga.

The father of two was taken to the emergency room of the John Paul II Hospital after complaining of "a slight trauma to the pelvis and bruises to one leg and one arm", according to La Nuova. He also reportedly had an MRI

His condition is not serious and he has since been released.

Amal's wife rushed to her side but, after being given the go-ahead, they left the hospital together. A private car, adds the publication

A representative of the star did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment

The actor and his wife and their twins a year, Alexander and Ella, have made the most of their stay at the seaside and have recently been joined on the Italian island by his parents – who probably help by doing a little babysitting.

While the couple's children were largely kept out of the public those who met the twins say that they are a perfect combination of their parents.

"They are too beautiful, just adorable," a source close to the family told People recently. "One looks like his mother and the other in the image of his father … It looks like they've taken the best parts of Amal and George and the have mixed together. "
