BARNABY Joyce says that a report from the National Consumer Watch Agency confirms the Nationals call for more coal-fired power plants.
The ACCC has released its latest report on the investigation of retail electricity prices.
One of the report's recommendations states that the government should "support new bankable investments by new players in productive capacity to help business and industrial customers and stimulate competition." 19659002] "What they say is that you have to increase the basic load on the market – which is coal-fired," said the MP for New England
while the government does would not fund a new power plant, it could give certainty to any company that wishes to build one, by offering them a "put option" on the energy produced.
"We would say to the basic energy providers, whose coal is the largest, Mr. Joyce said
that" it is creating the environment for cheaper electricity , guaranteeing the price.
"They are always worried about what will happen if the regulations change, if we give them the certainty that this exercise price means you will not go below that." [19659002] A number of national MPs, as well as former Prime Minister Tony Abbott, demanded that coal be owned and financed by the government.
But Mr. Joyce is far removed from Mr. Abbott, whose critics say he's denied his personal opinions
"I'm not in Tony Abbott's camp, I'm in the National Party camp, "Mr Joyce says:
" I do not see it as a Tony thing against Malcolm. This is not the game plan. The game plan for me is to bring down the electricity price for people of regional Australia. "
