Xbox Games with Gold August 2018: Major Nelson will soon unveil new FREE games

Xbox One Games Gold subscribers waited patiently but should not have too long to wait for Microsoft to finally unveil the new free games that will be part of the programming of August 2018.

The current crop of Games with Gold titles for the month of July is only available for another nine days, so we are fast approaching this window where Microsoft's Major Nelson unveils new Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles coming up in August.

In the vast majority of cases, the announcement of the Games with Gold was made on around the 22nd of the month. This is not always the case however. In some cases, the announcement was as late as the 27th day

Similarly, the badurance that Xbox would announce Games with Gold before Sony's own PS Plus games has recently disappeared, with Sony announcing the PlayStation Plus titles. For July, a full day before Xbox unveils its own badortment of free games for subscribers.

So, while we're waiting for an announcement soon enough – maybe before PS Plus is unveiled Wednesday – we're also aware that, like it does not matter, it does not change the fact that players may notice rumors and leaks in the day, especially given Microsoft's propensity to accidentally reveal games on the Xbox dashboard.

Up to now, however, at the time of writing these lines, there was no track on the games that Microsoft could launch in August.

Although, as we mention, we did not imagine we find out more. Officially or informally.

For those who do not know how Games with Gold works – maybe for those who only had their first Xbox last month – here a little explanatory:

Xbox Live Gold members will receive four new free games – two on Xbox One and two on Xbox 360.

Typically, Games With Gold includes two titles available for a two-week period and two more available for a month. This can be confusing and you do not want to accidentally miss the download of a good game, so it is important to note the dates on your calendar to make sure you do not miss it.

Similarly, you should not forget that two of the included games are from the Xbox 360 era, which means that both titles can be played on your Xbox One thanks to the backward compatibility features of the console.
