Elgato introduces a new, less expensive version of its streamer control panel, with the Stream Deck Mini reducing the six-button pad, each a tiny LCD screen. The new model follows the Stream Deck, launched last year, which offered a quick way to trigger custom graphics, effects, and more, in the heat of the moment.
Since then, Elgato has rolled out new features for the Stream Deck, and the new Stream Deck Mini is taking advantage of it from the start. The six LCD keys are configured using a drag-and-drop interface in the Elgato companion application. Button graphics can be predefined or customized by the user.
Native integration with OBS Studio, XSplit, Streamlabs, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter and Mixer, among other applications and platforms. Alternatively, you can configure your own applications of choice, using the buttons of the Stream Mini Deck to replicate the key combinations.
There is also support for the macro, now with the possibility of having multiple actions triggered from a single key, simultaneously or in sequence. In this way, you can press a button and load your streaming streaming app, messages sent to different social media channels, and more. Application folders let you load and switch multiple button sets.
Compared to the original Stream Deck, the form factor has changed a bit. The larger model comes with a removable folding stand that can support it on the desktop, while the Mini Stream Deck has this built-in. It is smaller, of course, although it always connects with a single USB cable.
Although Elgato targets the Stream Deck Mini in players, of course, there is nothing to say that other users could not derive certain features. As we found when we reviewed the original Stream Deck, it works like a MacBook Pro Touch Bar with more potential for customization. This has great benefits for video and photo editing shortcuts, and more.
Beside the new, more compact model, there is also a new version of Elgato's Stream Deck software coming out today. Version 4.1 adds the same multi-action macro support to the larger Deck.
The new Stream Deck Mini is available for pre-order now, priced at $ 99.95. It will be shipped on August 1st. Meanwhile, the original Stream Deck remains on sale, with a list price of $ 149.95.
