Three years have pbaded since players emerged from the vault to a post-apocalyptic wasteland in Fallout 4, now Bethesda is back with a sequel.

The Fallout series has always been known for its branching storylines, open-world exploration and extensive player choice. Fallout 76, the latest game in the venerable series, promises to be the most immersive and detailed experience to date.

Here is everything we know so far.

When will Fallout 76 be available in Australia?

Fallout: 76 will be released in Australia on Wednesday, November 14 at local retailers including JB Hi-Fi, The Gamesmen and EB Games, along with online outlets including Amazon Australia.

Pre-orders

Fallout 76 is currently available for pre-order in Australia for PlayStation 4, XBox One and PC from most retailers. Every outlet will offer a standard edition of the game, while several outlet-specific editions with unique items will also be available.

If you pre-order the game through any outlet, you’ll get access to the Fallout: 76 B.E.T.A. (Break-It Early Test Application), which begins on Tuesday, October 24 on Xbox One and Tuesday, October 30 on PS4 and PC. The BETA will only be running for specific session times, with subsequent playtests times announced at the end of each session.

What to expect in Fallout 76

Fallout 76 will be set in West Virginia which promises to offer a unique rural setting. Like all games in the series, the story will see the player emerge from a vault to a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Who will you meet? What parties will you side with, if any? What mysteries will greet you in the vast wasteland? The choice is yours to make.

Fallout 76 is the first in the series that will offer a multiplayer mode, much like an MMO. Bethesda has not revealed all of the details as to how this system works except to say that players will be able to opt-out of online elements and player-verses-player combat.

For the players who do decide to try their hand with internet randoms, a ‘bounty’ system will keep aggressive players in check. Gameplay-wise, the Fallout staple ‘V.A.T.S’ aiming system returns, although action does not come to a stand-still like in previous entries – likely to accommodate the multiplayer portion.

Players will also be able to build their own base using the Construction and Assembly Mobile Platform (C.A.M.P.) and craft upgrades to their weapons and armour.

All-in-all, Fallout 76 is shaping up to be one of the most hotly anticipated titles of 2018.
