THE Queensland Government is encouraging Queenslanders to cash in their containers for change from November 1.
Minister for Environment and the Great Barrier Reef Leeane Enoch said more than 230 refund points across Queensland were getting ready to start receiving containers from Thursday.
“This is just the beginning of the scheme, and I want to see it continue to grow with more people getting involved and more refund points becoming available,” Ms Enoch said.
“To get ready for the scheme, I am asking Queenslanders to do three simple things.
“First find out where your nearest refund point is located,” she said
“Second – create a scheme account so that you can receive your refunds directly into your bank account.
“Not all refund points will provide case. It’s important that all Queenslanders who wish to cash in their containers create an account on the Containers for Change website, so they have a choice how their refunds can be paid.
“Third – start collecting your empty containers.”
While most aluminium, glbad, steel, plastic and liquid paperboard containers between 150ml and 3L are eligible, there are some exceptions such as glbad wine bottles and plastic milk containers.
The Containers for Change website contains information on which containers are eligible and remember to remove lids and put them in your yellow top bins.
The Toowoomba refund point will be located at 12 Kimberly Ct.
