A new item is coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale, in this week's coming update: Balloons.
The existence of these balloons was already found in the game's files, but we did not know what they did or how they worked until now, though, to be fair, until they are in the game and we can try them out we will not know exactly how they function.
But we have an official description and the above image. The description reads: "Inflate balloons to defy gravity! Add balloons to increase your altitude! "

Like the Grappler and Jetpack, Balloons will give players the ability to reach new heights. I suspect they'll be a consumable that comes in stacks of around 10 (similar to the hbadle of a Grappler has) though it's also possible that they're just going to be in your inventory at all.
Still, the description makes them sound like consumables, and not just that, it sounds like you can use more than one. Like in the movie Up.
It should be interesting to see how this impacts the game. Unlike jetpacks and grappling hooks, balloons are fragile. They pop easily. I imagine they will be able to shoot them, if they are going to be killed,
In any case, we should see the balloons in the game Tuesday morning baduming Epic Games. It strikes me somewhat odd timing, what with the Halloween event going on and the Fortnitemares LTM. Releasing a balloon item would have made more sense during Fortnite's birthday event.
Better late than never, I guess.
