UPDATE (WKOW) Police have identified the driver who killed three fourth-year girls and a woman in a hit and run Saturday.
Police said 21-year-old Colton Treu hit the girls' group and the woman when his truck left the road. He moved away and surrendered. The reason why Treu left the road is not clear.
Another girl who has been touched is in critical condition.
Sunday, there will be a candlelight vigil at 18h. for girls and women at Halmstad Elementary School in Chippewa Falls. All the girls would have attended the Chippewa Falls School District.

Chippewa County (WQOW) – Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk confirms that at least two girls have been killed in the hit and run.
Authorities are looking for the driver of a van involved in a hit and run this morning involving several victims. This happened just before noon on County Road P near Lake Hallie.
A rescue helicopter and several ambulances were on site.
The vehicle in question is a 2004-2006 Ford F-150 black or dark gray. The truck is missing a mirror and has been damaged at the front. Officers from Lake Hallie said the vehicle was heading north towards Chippewa Falls. Anyone with information is invited to call 911.

UPDATE (WKOW) – Our sister station WQOW reports that law enforcement officials have confirmed the death of four people following a bomb blast near Lake Hallie on Saturday morning.
Officials said that three of those killed were minors and one adult. They were all part of a group of local Girl Scouts who were collecting garbage along the road.
The authorities are looking for the driver and the truck involved in the hit and run. There is an officer presence on Maitland Drive at Eau Claire. The law enforcement authorities said they were investigating the hit and run. The forces of the order stated that there was no threat to the public.
