Santa Monica’s National Park Service later confirmed the site’s historic buildings – including shops and a sheriff’s office – burned to the ground. Footage from CBS Evening News appeared to show only the church left standing.
Westworld isn’t the only popular television show to be affected by the California wildfires. The mansion from the US version of The Bachelor was in “grave danger”, according to the American Broadcasting Company’s head of reality TV. However, despite the property next door burning down, the Agoura Hills mansion came out mostly unscathed.
Many other properties were not so lucky. Pop star Miley Cyrus has been left devastated after learning her home “no longer stands”. Actor Gerard Butler, who has starred in action films such as 300 and Gods of Egypt, also lost his multimillion-dollar home. He shared a picture of the wreckage on social media, saying it was a “heartbreaking time” for people across California.
The properties of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Camille Grammer Meyer and singer-songwriter Robin Thicke have also been destroyed.

Scott Derrickson, the director of Doctor Strange, tweeted on Monday that the only items from his home found perfectly intact so far include a glbad, pot plant and Doctor Strange figurine.
Others, including Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian West, were safe, but were waiting to see whether their homes were destroyed in the deadly blaze. On Monday, Caitlyn Jenner told fans her house wasn’t damaged. However, the fire came within metres of her home.
“It was devastating out here in Malibu,” she told her Instagram followers. “You can see the hills are totally scorched. We’re very, very lucky.”
The California wildfires have so far claimed the lives of more than 30 people and injured more than 40. The fires have collectively burned across more than 6500 square kilometres (an area equivalent to about half the size of Sydney).
More than 200 people remain unaccounted for, according to authorities, meaning the event is poised to become the deadliest wildfire in the state’s history.
US President Donald Trump has blamed the wildfires on “gross mismanagement”. However, his comments have been slammed by firefighters and celebrities alike. Leonardo DiCaprio tweeted in response that wildfires have worsened due to climate change.
“Helping victims and fire relief efforts in our state should not be a partisan issue,” he said.
