A man reportedly abducted a baby after badaulting his pregnant partner and the 10-month-old boy in Menton.
A major manhunt is underway to find the culprit, who escaped a police chase on the Monash Highway earlier this afternoon.

Police alleges that the man is on the run with the baby on board and that he has threatened to hurt him.

He was last seen traveling in an aquatic green sedan, WJQ334, Toyota Yaris.
Police pursued the car along the Monash Expressway, but lost sight near EastLink shortly after 1 pm.
A spokesman for the Victoria Police said the man "said he was going to hurt the baby and himself".
The investigation is underway.
