A man from Melbourne was found with titanium plates in his face after having a broken jaw during an unprovoked attack from a punch on the outside of his body. a nightclub.

Joel, 24, was celebrating an evening at the Retro Club on Lonsdale Street as a result of a cricket victory, when one of his friends had been asked to leave because he was drunk.

The plasterer was telling a friend outside the venue that it was time to leave, when a thug approached and began verbally abusing him.

A video obtained exclusively by 9News shows the attacker who violently strikes Joel in the face, causing him to retreat in excruciating pain.

"I just remembered … nowhere, a huge thud at the bottom of my jaw," Joel said.

Despite the presence of several security guards, the attacker walked away from the scene with friends as if nothing had happened.

The affected single broke the victim's jaw in two places and forced him to stay away from work for two and a half weeks.

He now has three titanium plates where his jaw has been fractured and now faces years of dental work.

"It has changed a lot of life," Joel said, pointing to the mental trauma caused by the attack.

"A lot of my life is gone for this little injury," he said.

Police continue to search for the culprit after the June 3 attack, which occurred around 2:30.

"I would say it's a blow to the king," said Chief Constable Brianna Gibson.

"Although the film does not do him justice, given his injuries, it would have been a considerable force."

Joel said he hoped the thug would be caught soon, fearing that he would reoffend.

"It was a pretty nasty attack, so I dare say it could do it again."
