When 70-year-old David Swann and 69-year-old Kath Foreman met on a Fiji Airways flight from Melbourne to Nadi, they did not expect the trip to lead to love.
A canceled flight, some seats by coincidence and a trip to paradise later, barely a year after their trip, the two spouses are now married.
When David's flight to Melbourne and Fiji was canceled last May, the airline provided accommodation at the airport hotel while the aircraft was tuned and deemed ready to fly.
Kath, another traveler of the same age, was affected by the cancellation.
The two men started talking at the airport while waiting for their reprogrammed flight and sat by chance next to each other when they finally boarded the plane. 39; air.
"We found that we were sitting next to each other," David said.
But it was not close enough for the bachelor who was heading for paradise.

When they landed in Fiji, they split up – David headed for the island of Matamanoa while Kathleen was traveling to Suva, where her brother lives.
David said that Matamanoa Island had a special place in his heart and that Kath was not in a position to change his family plans, but they promised to contact each other when they returned to Australia.
Despite the distance that separated them, they "secretly realized that something was happening," according to David.
The 70-year-old returned home after spending 12 days in Fiji and Kath returned three weeks later.
What happened next was a whirlwind of pbadionate decision-making and the definition of following his heart.
"Four days after arriving home in Mildura, Kath drove 740 km to Apollo Bay to see me and find out if his feelings were reciprocal," David said.
"They were.
"After almost a month of dating, I asked Kath to marry me."
The two men who immediately agreed proved to their family and friends that the weather was really essential, especially later in life.
"We have no time to lose!" David said.
"We were married on March 9, 2019 on the beach near our home in Apollo Bay, surrounded by family and friends."
The pair is expected to return to Fiji in May, a year after their fateful meeting, and thank Fiji Airways for providing flights.
"Kath and I often look at each other and shake our heads wondering if all this wonderful situation has happened because of a canceled flight!"
