The question that interests us here is: how do you get it? do they pile up against each other? ? And on which should you spend your money (if you are not enough flush for both)? We compared the two power laptops in all the key categories for you below.
Apple MacBook Pro 2018 vs. Microsoft Surface Book 2: Design
One of the major differences between the Surface Book 2 and the MacBook Pro is that the Microsoft notebook has a touch screen that comes off completely. You can, if you wish, use this device as a Windows tablet, or with a stylus (purchased separately), and this immediately gives you a host of different options.
Eye-catching pivoting hinge that manages the connection of the screen and keyboard. Otherwise it's a very well-turned laptop, all in brushed aluminum and elegant lines. You have the choice between a 13.5-inch screen, 3000 x 2000 pixels or a 15-inch screen, 3240 x 2160 pixels, with differences in size and weight.
The 2018 MacBook Pro is another stylish laptop, perhaps the most beautiful computer that Apple has ever released, although the look has not changed much in recent years. The unibody aluminum shell really stands out, whether you opt for the gray or silver space options, and while the low-throw butterfly knobs on the keyboard are an acquired taste, Apple now seems to have solved the problem of glued keys. [19659002] The MacBook Pro may not have a touch screen, but it has a touch bar (with application shortcuts and Touch ID) on all the most basic 13.3-inch models. Various configurations are available with a 13.3-inch screen, 2560 x 1600 pixels or a 15.4-inch screen, 2880 x 1800 pixels. Again, this choice affects the size and weight of the laptop you end up with.
Apple MacBook Pro 2018 vs. Microsoft Surface Book 2: Specifications

The MacBook Pro starts with a 13.3-inch model that offers you a 2nd generation Intel Core i5 dual-core 2.3GHz processor, 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage space. Apple MacBook Pro 2018 vs. Microsoft Surface Book 2: Features
If you choose between these two laptops right now, perhaps the biggest difference is on the software side – we run Windows , the other macOS. Both have developed excellent operating systems, and the one you prefer will probably depend on which one you are most used to. Keep in mind that your computer should work with everything else in your home, and so if you are heavily in Apple equipment, a MacBook Pro is much more reasonable.
We have already mentioned the detachable screen of Surface Book 2, and after several missteps, Windows 10 now works perfectly well on a tablet. It's a complete operating system that you can take anywhere and do anything from Photoshop to iTunes to a complete web browser. The MacBook Pro has the same great apps and full web support, of course, but the keyboard is still attached.
Depending on your model choice, the MacBook Pro comes with two or four Thunderbolt 3 ports that are also compatible with USB-C standards. On the other hand, the Surface Book 2 has two normal size USB ports, a USB-C port and a memory card reader. You will need to use fewer dongles when connecting devices. Both laptops retain the traditional 3.5mm audio jack.
In terms of battery life, the MacBook Pro claims about 10 hours of iTunes video playback, which sounds pretty good. The Surface Book 2, says Microsoft, will last 17 hours of reading – you might not have enough, but in our test, it lasted an awesome time between charges (about seven hours of mixed use).
Apple Book MacBook Pro 2018 vs. Microsoft Surface Book 2: Verdict
Trying to choose a winner here seems a little unfair because it gives the impression that one of them is a bad laptop or unworthy of your attention – these are really two of the best laptops on the market now, and at a level of selection between them could be as easy as decide if you prefer Windows or MacOS.
MacBook Pros, living up to their name, can certainly be deceived with more powerful components (with a price to match). Unless you chew a lot of video encoding, you will not need as much power – and if you buy a new computer for games, Windows will always be a better choice.
In terms of design and build quality on these two computers, it's pretty much honest, and Apple and Microsoft engineers can congratulate themselves on what they've done to achieve here. It's hard to see how these laptops could do better in terms of aesthetics, but we're sure we'll know it at the next refresh.
It's probably worth choosing the configuration you need and checking the prices on the board if you're trying to weigh the Surface Book 2 and the 2018 MacBook Pros. We are positive that you will be impressed the one you are going for; but for us, the extra flexibility of the Surface Book 2, and the wider compatibility with other devices (like Android phones) are just around it.
