Audi unveiled its all-electric E-Tron 2020 SUV this week, a direct competitor of Tesla's Model Y car and the newest addition to a crossover market that should see a flood of new vehicles on the market in the UK. Next year.
At a recent event in Copenhagen, Audi revealed details about the car and what the interior features of the E-Tron will include for the drivers. The 2020 E-Tron is a 429-hp four-wheel electric four-wheel drive SUV, the latest addition to a range of electric and hybrid cars that was originally developed by Audi in 2009.
While the SUV E-Tron 2020 is without a doubt impressive, a feature stands out: its virtual side mirror systems. Instead of having traditional side mirrors that protrude from the car, the 2020 E-Tron features two small cameras (reducing the weight of the car's exterior and significantly reducing its width). The cameras then display live images of what is outside the car on two seven-inch OLED screens placed under the window and above the driver's and pbadenger's door handle. Camera angles can be preprogrammed by the driver to facilitate merging into traffic, parallel parking or difficult turns.
U.S. the regulators have not yet approved camera technology, so that at the moment the feature will only appear in the European versions of E-Tron.
Audi has indicated that the car will reach 250 miles as part of the global harmonized light vehicle test procedure (WLTP) and that it will only need 30 minutes to charge up to To 200 miles driving in a 150 kW station. Nissan's recent admissions about the charging capabilities of its own electric vehicle, the Leaf, have left some consumers skeptical about pricing promises.
Back inside the driver's seat, the dashboard basically creates a virtual badpit and presents cool stuff. There is a dual-screen multimedia interface (MMI) system where the upper touch screen manages navigation, music and phone applications; the lower screen monitors air conditioning controls for the driver and pbadengers. There is also a multitude of buttons on the steering wheel.
In addition, the car is equipped with a high-end audio system of 705 watts of 16.5 watts, Bang & Olufsen, which should be amply amplified by the fact that Audi claims to have soundproofed the E-Tron's body so that the wind and road noise is sealed not to disturb the driver. Overall, it looks like a pretty cool package.
The car should be listed at the starting price of $ 89,000. Take a look at the interior of its high-tech interior.
