Speaking for the first time since the news of his return from Toro Rosso, Brendon Hartley said he still had "many more pages to write" in his narrative in F1.
New Zealanders were officially removed by the team Monday, a day after their 12th place at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
It was a disappointing end, not just for the season, but for Hartley's F1 career.
After months of speculation, Toro Rosso announced Monday that he would be replaced by Alex Albon, a Formula 2 driver, for next season.
Hartley, however, insists that his F1 story is not over yet.
"I left the [Yas Marina] Sunday tour with my head up, "Hartley tweeted.
"I'm very proud of my history and my career so far, but I feel I still have some work to do in F1.
"For the moment, this has been put on hold.
"I've had speed problems before and I strongly believe that difficult situations make you stronger.
"It also helps that I have a good NZ [New Zealand] support team, friends, family and wife.
"I would also like to thank my coach Rich and almost all of the 500 Toro Rosso staff with whom I am with whom I am happy to be working this season. the factory staff and of course all to Honda Racing.
"I really appreciate the support I've received from fans around the world this year, I still have a lot of pages left to write in my story, and I'll make the most of this opportunity in the next chapter." "
