Jellicle's cats are out tonight. (Sorry.) According to Variety a film adaptation of the popular Andrew Lloyd Webber Music Cats is ongoing, featuring – breathe deeply, everyone – Jennifer Hudson Taylor Swift James Corden and Ian McKellen for the star. Tom Hooper Oscar winner is about to make a decision on his interpretation of Les Misérables . Lee Hall ( Billy Elliot ) will write the screenplay.
Hudson will play Grizabella, the "glamorous cat," for her to have her moment of glory with an interpretation of "Memory," the most explosive of all musical theater ballads. (Eat your heart, "I dreamed a dream.") We have not yet announced who Swift, McKellen, and Corden will play, but if we were to guess, maybe: Bombalurina, who sings " Macavity, the cat of mystery; "Old Deuteronomy, the head of old Jellicle; and Gus, the theater cat, respectively?
As we guess / dream-casting here, maybe Harry Styles – a handsome former Swiftian – would make a good Rum Tum Tugger, who's a bit of a rock and roll cat. And there must be a role somewhere for Anne Hathaway who won an Oscar for her turn in Hooper's Les Mis and who has excellent performances (more, she has already played Catwoman). Who cares what character she's going for – just get her and her post – Ocean's 8 camp wave in this thing! She could be Jennyanydots or Shimbleshanks or Jellylorum or oh, good sorrow, these names are really the most ridiculous! Regardless of what happens with the cast, you can bet that Swift has ordered some sort of cameo for her two real cats, Instagram stars Meredith and Olivia. Which one – how would that be weird, by the way? To see real cats jumping around people in cat costumes?
No matter what happens here on the other, this whole thing promises to be deeply, deeply weird. Who knew in this year of our Lord 2018 that an adaptation of Cats in all its hideous glory, hideous arrived on our way?
Of course, there is a method to this foolishness: Cats The absurd story of a group of kitties getting together for the ball Jellicle, where a d & # 39; Between them will receive an extra life from the chef Jellicle, is one of the most absurdly successful comedies of all time. A filmed version of the West End musical comes out in 1998. The make-up and costumes are, with all due respect, quite grotesque, and part of the reason Cats is so vilified in some theater corners . But you can bet that the new film will keep this signature, based on the latest West End cover in 2016, which played the role of Grizabella Nicole Scherzinger . (She then had a feud with Webber after the Broadway revival.) So, get ready to see Hudson et al in wonderfully bad cat painting and costumes, lick their paws and do their best not to look humiliated by all the test. The new adaptation of the musical will begin to shoot in Britain in November.
